    Utah - March 8-11 2025

Sunrise on Superior! So today, Monday March 10, it was indeed back to Alta. While East Castle and Main Baldy and the Baldy Shoulder did open yesterday, the zone lookers right of East Baldy over to Little Chute hadn’t, so there was still a chance to nab some untracked in this zone. Waited...

    Utah - March 8-11 2025

Looks like it may be back to Alta tomorrow. When I checked late morning before making the call on Brighton I did check the Alta report. East Castle and Baldy were showing closed. East Castle is a fun zone pretty far out that doesn’t open often, but it’s showing on the schedule for tomorrow...

    Utah - March 8-11 2025

I’m glad I chose Brighton today. Superior looks just as spectacular from the BCC side. My late start turned into noon since I didn’t have a parking reservation, but that was fine. Sleep in, let things soften. I didn’t even realize last night we lost an hour. My legs were tired anyway! I...

    Utah - March 8-11 2025

On Thursday I actually thought about taking the train to work (one Penn) on Friday (ski stuff with, done it before), and then taking LIRR to the Air Train. It’s not a bad trip, even with ski stuff. However, on the return it’s the Red Eye straight to the office for work. Done it, it’s rough...

    Utah - March 8-11 2025

Always trust in Jason! Going to be warmer today than forecasts Friday had been indicating. Late start today, let things soften up. Decided I’m going to drive up to Brighton today. No bus for me! Check out a new place. Also interested in checking out the Milly Gate, maybe explore a little...

Shared a lift ride at Alta today with a guy who’s here from…..Idaho!

    Utah - March 8-11 2025

Down by Catherine’s Lake when transitioning from my Rocky Point run I shared beers and chocolates with a crew that was skiing this zone. It was one of the guys first seasons living in Utah. Turns out he’s from NY and worked at Gore and guided rafts on the upper Hudson River. Go figure. As...

    Utah - March 8-11 2025

Superior is a sight to behold. A little more LCC porn. So, a week ago Friday my daily check of OpenSnow and the like hinted that Utah could see some storms this week. Ok, check Delta to see how ridiculous tickets are so I can get back to whatever it is I was doing. What’s this? A...

Where are you skiing this week?

I’m staying down in Murray, actually. Taking the UTA Ski Bus. Traffic is slow but should be there around 7:45.

Where are you skiing this week?

Decided on Alta today. Don’t think that Devil’s Castle was open yesterday so if I’m lucky I’ll find some decent powder turns. 4.5’ since Monday, even leftovers are gonna be great!

Where are you skiing this week?

Will do. Stumbled and bumbled into this one in my slow season to date, but last Friday was a good day to start looking a little more in earnest. Alta reporting 19” since early yesterday, and I don’t think the winds have fully shifted to NW, which will hopefully favor the Cottonwoods through...

Where are you skiing this week?

I know nothing about PowMow, other than tickets are expensive but limited, and they have a number of hike/skin to zones. Fill me in on things I need to know!

Where are you skiing this week?

I’m hoping! Either way, fun will be had. Not beholden to Ikon I can actually venture out. Powder Mountain looks like fun, and the Salt Lake Ski Superpass will save me a few buck on Alta/Bird tickets, with the option to go to Brighton or Solitude if I choose.

Where are you skiing this week?

Warm by early March standards on Sunday and Monday, I suppose. Mid to upper 30s at 8,000 feet (bases), 30 degrees give or take at 11,000 (summits). I’ve skied warmer spring days after a storm, hoping it’ll be a’ight throughout, at least up high. Not gonna look a gift miles ticket after 4+...

Where are you skiing this week?

Alta/Bird picked up about 2’ of snow earlier this week from a storm that over delivered on NW winds. They have 10” in the last 24 hours, with as much as 2’ of additional snowfall expected through tomorrow. Seeing a stormy week ahead last Friday I actually snagged a flight to SLC with miles...

    Plattekill Conditions

No doubt. Once upon a time my brother and I went for their amateur mogul competition. Was a great day….until we got to the car and my brother realized he failed to zip the pocket he put his car keys in. That was a looong trek home.

Denver area IKON pass ski recommendation

What kind of skiing is it you are looking for? I’ve done a few Ikon trips out Denver way so I know where you are coming from. If you want steeps and are inclined to test your lungs and quads then A Basin is iconic. So many fun zones, steeps, bowls, trees…..and the East Wall is a lot of fun if...

First time I’ve seen reference to “a SnowCat” like that in updates. Anyone know what that’s supposed to mean??
