Mohawk Mountain on Indy Pass January 25, 2025

I assumed that you were pointing out my latest internet IP faux pas. You should at least acknowledge that I edited it without further direction. :)

Mohawk Mountain on Indy Pass January 25, 2025

Your search skills are better than mine. From the link above: From 1,683 foot Mohawk Mountain, on a clear day, the view is literally “forever”. Colonial historians note the use of the high promontory by the Tunxis and Paugussett Indians who used smoke signals to warn local tribes of the...

Mohawk Mountain on Indy Pass January 25, 2025

Excellent report. Not to be too literal, but given the Iroquois Nation map, do you know why it's named Mohawk Mountain given the location in northwestern CT?

    Winter Weather 2024/25

That's a great deal. I'd definitely do that. Why do they use stock photos of the Alps to (false) advertise it on the SkiCNY website, below? That drives me nuts when northeastern mountains do that. Be proud of what you have and post a representative pic!

It's Time to Ski New York

Why doesn't your map include the ski areas in NH that we hit 13 years ago? All these years later, still nothing north of the border! Sorry, ignore my hijack.

    Drones over New Jersey

I was unaware of these sightings until you posted and now I see all the articles about it. I was always unnerved by UFO sightings going back many decades that tended to be clustered around military installations, nuclear power plants, and other important places.

    Baseball

The Post is at its best picking over the bones of a NY team's embarrassing loss. That first-base miscue was especially brutal. https://nypost.com/2024/10/31/sports/theres-no-escaping-the-brutality-of-this-yankees-failure/

I ran across this 50-minute clip of a visit to abandoned Brodie with, as the title says, virtually everything still there.

Fahnestock Gravel: 10/12/24 Ancient Paths to Modern Roads

Thanks for the link about the proper owners of the land where I grew up. Wow, "mud boil" -- I'd never heard that term before. Just seeing those names again (Solvay Process, Allied Chemical, Honeywell) reminds me of CNY's desecration.

    Greek Peak Conditions

For the first time in many moons, I drove by GP yesterday on the way back to 81 after what looks like a final visit to my ailing uncle. Odd to see it during off-season -- was there some sort of equipment sale going on in the lodge?

    Plattekill Wedding

How many attendees can Platte host for a wedding? Was the long liftline due to having to stop the chair for every couple they onload? Impressive what a few lights and candles can do to what feels in winter like a basement rec room.

    Mount Peter Conditions

Impressive to see a beginner's hill like this with such a devoted following that it's out of season passes before they even go on sale? NYS's longest continuously operating ski area, since 1936! My one day there in 2012.
