Where are you skiing this week?

I’m staying down in Murray, actually. Taking the UTA Ski Bus. Traffic is slow but should be there around 7:45.

Where are you skiing this week?

Decided on Alta today. Don’t think that Devil’s Castle was open yesterday so if I’m lucky I’ll find some decent powder turns. 4.5’ since Monday, even leftovers are gonna be great!

Where are you skiing this week?

Will do. Stumbled and bumbled into this one in my slow season to date, but last Friday was a good day to start looking a little more in earnest. Alta reporting 19” since early yesterday, and I don’t think the winds have fully shifted to NW, which will hopefully favor the Cottonwoods through...

Where are you skiing this week?

I know nothing about PowMow, other than tickets are expensive but limited, and they have a number of hike/skin to zones. Fill me in on things I need to know!

Where are you skiing this week?

I’m hoping! Either way, fun will be had. Not beholden to Ikon I can actually venture out. Powder Mountain looks like fun, and the Salt Lake Ski Superpass will save me a few buck on Alta/Bird tickets, with the option to go to Brighton or Solitude if I choose.

Where are you skiing this week?

Warm by early March standards on Sunday and Monday, I suppose. Mid to upper 30s at 8,000 feet (bases), 30 degrees give or take at 11,000 (summits). I’ve skied warmer spring days after a storm, hoping it’ll be a’ight throughout, at least up high. Not gonna look a gift miles ticket after 4+...

Where are you skiing this week?

Alta/Bird picked up about 2’ of snow earlier this week from a storm that over delivered on NW winds. They have 10” in the last 24 hours, with as much as 2’ of additional snowfall expected through tomorrow. Seeing a stormy week ahead last Friday I actually snagged a flight to SLC with miles...

    Plattekill Conditions

No doubt. Once upon a time my brother and I went for their amateur mogul competition. Was a great day….until we got to the car and my brother realized he failed to zip the pocket he put his car keys in. That was a looong trek home.

Denver area IKON pass ski recommendation

What kind of skiing is it you are looking for? I’ve done a few Ikon trips out Denver way so I know where you are coming from. If you want steeps and are inclined to test your lungs and quads then A Basin is iconic. So many fun zones, steeps, bowls, trees…..and the East Wall is a lot of fun if...

    Whiteface Conditions

Any locals “in the know” hear any whispers or hints about where the Slides are at??

Yet…..the Slides showing open on the conditions report.

    Whiteface Conditions

First time I’ve seen reference to “a SnowCat” like that in updates. Anyone know what that’s supposed to mean??

    Whiteface Conditions

Glad it stayed snow up high yesterday. Fingers crossed for the weekend, although it’s looking dicey. For the mountain proper it doesn’t really matter. A mix still builds base and the slopes will recover. A crusty mess would, however, likely set a promising Slides season back a bit…..

    Winter Weather 2024/25

If ifs and buts were candy and nuts, as they say. Weekend storm seems to be shifting north and west, with mixed precipitation back in the picture for the dacks. Until tomorrow….??????

    Whiteface Conditions

Soooo…..any reports from yesterday? Don’t like today’s conditions report regarding ‘fast and firm as a result of the bout with mixed precipitation’. How bad did that get, and at what elevations?

    Winter Weather 2024/25

ECMWF seems to be coming in line with GFS and Canadian solutions for Saturday night thru Sunday. Forecast Discussion talking about 15:1 to 18:1 snow to liquid ratios, in places. Cats still look to get skunked, although OpenSnow still has an optimistic 10-20 inch forecast for Platty, at the...

    Winter Weather 2024/25

Used to be Marconi mostly, until the new stairs they built in the spring washed away in the fall and beach access was limited. Since then Nauset Light mostly, but over New Years it seems Coast Guard has become a hotter spot? Shifting sands and all…

    Winter Weather 2024/25

Keeping it winter weather related…..Friday looks very windy on Cape, and not in a good offshore kind of way. Sunday looks windy/snowy/rainy/big surf, so terrible. Sat and Mon do have some potential, so at least I’ll get the board to the beach and get wet if it’s remotely worthwhile. My winter...

    Winter Weather 2024/25

I hope WF opens the Slides today and somebody get to enjoy it before Ma Nature fouls it up! Not that it matters for me because I’ll be on Cape Cod surfing and not skiing anywhere…but forecasts for the ADKs haven’t yet all given up on the Sat - Sun storm being all snow, but the tea leaves are there.
