    Bar up or bar down?

AFAIK, it's the law in NYS also. Just got back from a 6 week tour of Utah and Colorado. Sometimes didn't use the bar, but most times did-depends on the chair and it's height. Some of the older fixed grip doubles and triples out there don't have them.

Hoping they open next weekend (probably will), but too bad they're closed this week-getting home from our IKON trip later today. Looking forward to a patio party to end the season.

    Holiday Valley - Storm Podcast

Slight thread drift, but from what I've seen here out west, 6 pack chairs work great IF you're willing to have lifties maintain line discipline. I've seen some run great with organized corrals and attendants shouting out "front row" and funneling singles in with 4 or 5 person groups. Yesterday...

Poll: What is your mix of Peak vs Off Peak?

As a retired guy I'll mostly ski weekdays, but sometime I'll ski Saturday or Sunday-some to see my grandkids ski and sometimes I'll just go and keep my expectations low. Occasionally it's a pleasant surprise with good conditions and low crowds. On our 6 week IKON western tour, we've used...

    Ski Waxing

Just a quick comment..............I'm amazed at how the wax has held up here out west on natural snow. Our main pairs have about 20 days on them, and while it's about time to wax them, I see no base burn. At Bristol especially on this years man made snow, I usually wax them about every 3-4 days...

The moguls always looks smaller and not as steep from the lift.

We're still out west (Winter Park this week), but we got the email. Our 70+ pass is going up $40 to $735 each. It would be nice if they would hook up with one of the Mega passes so we could get that as an add on-crazy that a base IKON is $779 and includes unlimited at several places. Of course...

Where are you skiing this week?

Where are you skiing this week?

Taking the day off after skiing for two weeks in Utah (Snowbird, Alta,Solitude, Brighton, Snowbasin,Deer Valley) and heading for Steamboat tomorrow. Much more crowded and crazy since last time we were out here in 2019.Amazing amounts of snow and powder, although the visibility on many days...

    Bristol Conditions

Sunny Saturday! Went down so I could see my three granddaughters in their lesson groups before we head out west. They had and were still blowing snow on the Loop, Upper and Lower Rocket, Upper Galaxy, Shooting Star and maybe one or two more. Yes, it was a busy Saturday with Comet/Outer Orbit...

    Bristol Conditions

Pond was pretty full today and there was quite a bit of water running into it from the big visible feed pipe on the south shore. There's still a decent amount of snow, but if they can resurface it will help things. They've got the State championships coming up at the end of next week, so if they...

    Bristol Conditions

Skied for about 2 1/2 hours this morning until the tank was empty on my legs from yesterday and the cold I'm fighting took over. Sunny, very warm and quite windy-all bad news for the snow cover. By the time I left, bare spots were emerging and some of the slopes were getting water saturated...

    Bristol Conditions

Wow! Beautiful day in the sun with spring skiing conditions! Missed yesterday with a scratchy throat and the blahs but made up for it today. Got out around 9:15 or so and we had slowly softening conditions. By noon, it was we had soft piles. Took a break and switched to my wider, softer skis...

    Bristol Conditions

Nice bluebird day! Skied until about 2:00 with softening snow. Skied Upper and Lower Universe for the first time this year-the whales on Upper weren't bad but the drop in is quite icy. Lower was very nice especially early-we did the cut over from Upper Galaxy a couple of times. Crowds were...

    Bristol Conditions

My wife skied today-she described it as "interesting" "sugar, ice, death cookies", but she skied across the mountain. Not sure about tomorrow-I may go to see the grandkids in their programs, but if I do, I'm keeping my expectations low. Hard to maintain a decent surface with the temp swings...

    Bristol Conditions

Last Beer League race last night. The snow which I assume was soft during the day firmed up and got chunky and sugary. I usually like to warm up on the loop, but it's a madhouse with the school kids, so I did my first run on Galaxy. It was frozen clumps/mini moguls-not the best warmup on GS skis...
