Platty Sweet Hill in Western Catskills

I think you're right, the mentioned standing sideways, would the shun you if you showed up with these?

Platty Sweet Hill in Western Catskills

Ha! Bizarro world MRG, I like it. Snow skates are not snow blades, they're only as long as your boot, to each his own.

East Coast Ski Trip Outside of NY

Just an observation, no boarder hate, some of my friends, and even my kid, are boarders. They came in handy making followable tracks in the 54" at Snow Ridge 12/13/13. Couldn't have done it without them. A scraping boarder is alot louder than a scraping skier. Flame away.

    Santa Fe, NM: 12/08/02

I didn't get to take advantage, but I remember a gate at the top of a lift that you could leave a car on the access road, and ski the side country. I bet that would be pretty sweet. Ski Santa Fe may not be a destination resort, but it would make a very cool home mountain. Taos is only about an...

    Santa Fe, NM: 12/08/02

I'll never forget looking over my shoulder on the way up on the quad, I think you can see all the way to Colorado. Base elevation 10,350, summit 12,075. I took my sister's friend's husband, he hadn't skied in years. He missed skiing for free by a couple months, 70 and over, back then IIRC. He...

    Mom and Pop Style Mountains

The snow was up to the tubes on top of that sign last time I skied Santa Fe.

    The Generations of Music

Speaking of the Beatles, did anyone see 60 minutes last night? I guess hours of previously unseen footage of the Let It Be sessions was discovered, and is being made into a movie. There was a Let It Be movie, this is footage that wasn't used. It is cool to see geniuses at work. They seemed...

It's audibly different too, if scratchy conditions. No scratchy boarding sounds. No offense to any boarders here, but it is noticably quieter.

Fast Tracks: Paying to Cut the Line

Did the Alpinezone summit at Sugarloaf a couple times. Part of the package was first tracks on Sunday. An hour's access to the main lift an hour before opening. I must admit, it was pretty sweet, 6 warp speed runs on virgin cord on empty trails. I remember hustling to make it 7, but the masses...

    Jonny Quest was awesome.

Did anyone else have the "weather" channel that scanned a series of dials back and forth, temp, humidity, barometric pressure, wind speed and direction?

    Jonny Quest was awesome.

We had a family in the neighborhood with a Zenith with a remote. It had a servo motor with a chain that would turn the channel selector, clunk, clunk, clunk.

    Jonny Quest was awesome.

We got our first color TV and cable at the same time. Fond memories of Speed Racer, Gigantor, Fireball XL5, and Kimba the white lion after school. You used to have to wait for the tubes to warm up. Now you have to wait for the app to load. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Mrs Butterworth, beware. Cleveland Native Americans? When Mrs. Butterworth is drained of her dark tan liquid, her ethnicity is clear to see.

Ski Area To Change Its Name

Ever ski on Christmas Day? I was a minority at Greek. Must be a thing, like Jews going out for Chinese on Christmas.

Ski Area To Change Its Name

Ha! Reminds me of one time skiing at Stratton. It was brutally cold. I shared a chair with a guy and ended up skiing a couple runs with him. We decided to stop at the lodge up top to warm up. I was a bit surprised to find out my new buddy was black. We were both totally covered with facemasks...

Should've went with Honky Hill, or Cracker Creek perhaps. I like the sound of both equally.

    Greek Peak Conditions

Do you mean old lifts? Then yes, Greek's charm cup overflowith.? But seriously, Greek is pretty good. Has some nice offpiste stuff, which is lacking at Elk. They've made huge improvements on the snow making front. Actually opened with 3 trails last year. That's a big plus over the usual single...
