The more shares they buy back, the less they reinvest in the resorts. Not a sustainable cycle.

Since 2022, they've actually been investing in several of the Peak resorts. JFBB replaced and consolidated several old lifts. Attitash replaced their 3 worst lifts with 2 better ones. Mount Snow got two new detachables. Now Hunter is getting 2 new lifts. Vail Resorts has never sold a ski area.

    Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

You can't just change a lift alignment at the last minute. The entire profile needs to be redesigned. Either the lift was ordered with the intention that it run on the same route as the triple, or there are going to be massive delays if they only just now decided to move it.

    Killington Conditions

They installed depth finders on a bunch of the groomers last spring. It helps to make snowmaking more efficient, since you know which areas have sufficient depth and which areas need more. It's actually hard to guess the exact depth when looking at a trail from the surface.

They keep going until they reach the desired depth, or the end of March, whichever one comes first. This year they stopped just before the March 23rd/24th weekend. The deepest point on the trail was 28 feet 4 inches as of a few weeks ago.

    Killington Conditions

Superstar, Upper and Lower Skye Lark, Lower Bittersweet, Upper Ovation, and Skye Hawk were open today. Walking is required on Ovation and Lower Skye Lark, and Skye Hawk requires a cut through the woods. Very good for a May ski day. I also hiked up to the canyon area for a run on Double Dipper...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

They used ATVs to shuttle people up. I think the gondola is fixed now.

For anyone thinking of coming, the gondola is broken

    Gore Mountain Conditions

You're scapegoating the High Peaks Quad for every problem at Gore the same way the Whiteface people always scapegoat The Wilmington Trail for every problem at Whiteface. Even if they still had the double, you need all of Cloud to get from Straightbrook to High Peaks, and there's no way they...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Echo was toast as of last weekend. As for Cloud, if it gets more sun, then it needs more snow. It's hard to determine whether it needs more snow if you don't know the depth you're starting with.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Looking at the webcam, it's going to be hard for them to keep the top of Cloud open. All 4 dark side trails are wall to wall, but you might not be able to get to them. They need to invest in the snow depth finders that Killington has on their groomers. It would help a lot of ensure that snow is...

    Whiteface Conditions

The difference is that for Gore and Belleayre, they can simply make upgrades for the sake of improving the ski experience. Whiteface can only justify it by their unrealistic goal of holding another Olympics. It's a distraction.

    Whiteface Conditions

They keep rehashing the same "study" that "by 2050, Lake Placid will be one of 4 sites that can host the olympics". They're so delusional that they think they are ever going to get another Olympics. It's never going to happen, and they shouldn't be wasting their time, and taxpayer dollars on it...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

As of last weekend, it looked like the AE2 had been mothballed for the time being, and that they didn't plan on running it again this season, but I guess plans can change. As long as they have High Peaks open, I'll probably go again. I probably won't bother if it's North only.

    Gore Mountain Conditions

The route to the base is Showcase to Lower Sleighride to Wild Air. From Wild Air all the way down is covered very well. The problem is the upper portion of that route, since it's above where the competition course was built and not as much snow was made there. The upper mountain trails have...

    Gore Mountain Conditions

Everything that the report said would be open was open. Nothing more, nothing less. It turned out to be better than expected. I went in expecting half the trails reported open to actually be closed. What was open was mostly in good condition, though things are getting rather thin. I skied with...

    Whiteface Conditions

I don't enjoy them. The chairs are cramped, and if you're in an odd numbered group, then someone has to ride alone. They shouldn't be built in the 2020s. The other two ORDA mountains went with quads on all of their recent lifts. Whiteface should be doing the same. I don't buy the concerns about...

    Whiteface Conditions

Glad to see Little Whiteface replaced, but with another double? Seriously, what is this? 1960? It needs to be at least a fixed grip quad, like all the other new ORDA lifts. A double will be less wind resistant and have insufficient capacity for days when the gondola is on wind hold.

    Stratton Conditions

Wasn't sure where I was going to ski today, but I decided on Stratton, since they reopened the sun bowl for a bonus weekend, and I slept too late to make first chair at Killington or Whiteface. The weather started off partly cloudy, then got more cloudy, and eventually the sun came out. As for...

The Summit lift breaking down right after The Slides open is like the most Whitefacey thing ever.
