    Mounting G3 touring bindings

Does anyone have a lead on where I can get G3 touring bindings mounted. Neither of the closest G3 dealers (Idlewild in Clifford PA or Outdooe Sports Center in Wilton CT) has the jig. G3 sent me a link to a paper jig, but Idlewild says it doesn't really have enough information to be used...

A slash through the woods like that will grow thick really quickly if it isn't kept in check.

    Belleayre Conditions

Skied Belle today, had a couple of thoughts. First, holy cow the snowmaking and grooming is just ridiculous. They had a ton open and it was skiing really well. Considering the rain event early in the week it was absolutely phenomenal conditions/open terrain, and it would have been pretty good...

    Windham Mountain Going Private?

Where are we seeing that they are getting rid of DH mountain biking?

Poll: What management model for the best ski experience at ORDA Ski Areas?

The argument, made by Laszlo and others, is that there is no other business that competes against the state like skiing. That argument is "disingenuous". I agree that golf is tilted more towards private, I agree that camping is tilted more towards public. The owners of private campgrounds and...

Poll: What management model for the best ski experience at ORDA Ski Areas?

I have a certain amount of sympathy for this point, as made by Laszlo and others, but it is kinda BS when you think about it. I regularly golf at courses owned by towns, counties and the state. There are also plenty of private courses that get my money. NYS campgrounds compete with private...

    Chair Sale Fail

I see your point about 1 chair per vehicle, or at least per person, but every other point you made is, um, uh, loco.

    Belleayre Conditions

Yep. Lapping gondolas is for rubes. Of course, so is a lift with a 1% rise over run for 650 feet. And closing some of the very little challenging (ish) terrain at a mountain that is already intermediate friendly to make more blues. I have a real soft spot for Belle. They get very good...

    Belleayre Conditions

I got angry for about a second, and then realized that nothing would change, except it might get slightly less traffic. So win.

The ski3 discount card was a much, much better (more generous) product, a few years ago.

Not technically Brutalist, but had a real Soviet feel to it. They only good thing I will say about the new Discovery is that it is an improvement over the old Discovery.

    Belleayre Conditions

The Gondola was a ludicrous upgrade. It would only make sense if the Highmount expansion were to happen, and even then it's a bit of a stretch. The route from the top of Superchief to Tomahawk is easy as pie. The route from the top of the Gondola to Roaring Brook is a bitch.

    Belleayre Conditions

It skied better before you often had to ski down to the Gondola on weekdays. It was at one time one of the best learning pods anywhere because it was segregated. It was also better for people who could ski, because we didn't need to deal with those extra few hundred feet of virtually flat...

    Belleayre Conditions

Overlook is an amazing, historic lodge, with great atmosphere and a bar that feels like a local. The shitty fireplace free cafeteria at the bottom is the single worst thing about Belle. Your plan just made me break out in sad hives.

    Belleayre Conditions

Above Overlook is fairly lovely. They fucked me and my skis by not having Tomahawk open and forcing rocky, muddy, gondy laps. But the upper mt was corn, or at worst snocone all day.

Poll: What is your mix of Peak vs Off Peak?

There are a fair number of older gents on here which probably impacts the stats. I have rotating days off with 2/7 being weekends and the ability to swap shifts. I love doing things when everyone else is at work, and while I like skiing with my kids, their busy schedules don't always line up...

    Big Proposal in NH

Strong agree. When you look at how packed Magic and MRG get, there is a hunger for back to basics. Part of the problem is that the areas that get natural snow and are near population centers (ADK and Vt.) have the most onerous permitting imaginable, but I really think there could be money in a...

Where are you skiing this week?

It was skiing really nicely. Not sure how it will be after the harsh freeze thaw cycle and today's rain. Timed my arrival for a little after noon to allow the snow to be at it's best. The top steep part of Yankee Doodle was a mite bit firm but chalky and edgeable. The lower part was perfect...
