"We will have increased security including bag checks at all entrances. Everyone entering Gore Mountain Ski Area must go through a security checkpoint." [I]I am confident that security lines will run smoothly and efficiently.

I'm looking forward to them widening trails and then blowing snow on only half the width rather than their standard three quarters of the way across.

You, me and it's entire target audience that will get off exit 20 and go to the Great Escape instead.

I was also wondering the same thing. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe that Hoyt's hasn't been open in 2 years? Lookout Below is a lot of fun when it sits in the sun and gets soft. IMO, the mountain would benefit from having another steep trail on that side of the ridge. The actual lift...

I'm sure there's the possibility for a glade right next to it... OR a trail along the glade?

Barkeater is BY FAR the best glade on that side of the Burnt Ridge area. Dumb to cut a trail directly through it. Sacrificing Abenaki should suffice...

It was super windy in Wilmington this morning. No chance that snow was anywhere you could ski it.

I'll agree to disagree on weekend conditions. Ice or piles of ice cubes aren't my thing. That being said, today was phenomenal. The summit warmed up first, so Skyward was nice. soft (not spring yet) corn. The rest of the mountain followed. Wilmington Trail opened late for a beautiful "cream...

No Buddy Passes on Holiday Weeks. That is new either this year or last year. My daughter's friend found out the hard way today (different group from us). She didn't miss much though. WF got about 2-3 inches, but it was on top of ice and/or ice cubes. Not great. Wilmington Trail was probably ly...

I think the focus will be on allowing the snow they have to drain a bit then groom what they can. The weather was not kind to us. Take any decent skiing you can for a bit...

Got in 2 sunny hours of pure corduroy cruising and lunch (sandwich, soup, chips & drink) for $35 today. Feels like stealing in today's modern ski industry. Fingers crossed that tomorrow doesn't destroy it, because the snow over there was pretty sweet today.

    Coronavirus and Skiing

I will say that it has been very refreshing to have conversations with, see people's faces, etc. without a mask. I may be a grouchy dude that doesn't love crowds, but we are all social creatures at heart and on some biological level the "no mask thing" makes me happy (and maybe a little...

My grandfather (who helped start ski patrol there) always told me it stood for "Ass Over Applecart" because it was always left natural, bumpy, etc. :)

Someday, Gore will get enough RFID gates to match the number of riders per chair...maybe. Instead of 1& 1/2 functioning gates on a 4 person chair like Burnt Ridge. Or just spend that money on a zipline or whatever. Other than that, it was an absolutely fantastic day! WOW!

Does anyone know how much of an impact the World University Games will have on the ski experience for locals/passholders? I'd have to think it will be great for North Creek/Lake Placid and the surrounding areas. My wife, on the other hand, has suggested we potentially think about buying passes...
