Not a destination, in and of itself, but if you have your gear and are traveling Route 3 stop off behind the Town of Saranac offices--known locally as "Suicide Hill". Feb. 25 2022, the skiing featured 10 inches of blower pow. Best snow of the season, no ice at the beginning, middle or end...

This is not going to freeze well. Icy rain was falling by 4 pm at the hill. Good skiing on the actual runs with all the icy spots nicely slushed up by afternoon. The "Ambasador" stationed at the bunny hill told me that Presidents Day had been the busiest day of the year--overall though, visits...

I found some snow! Very spring-like out in the Tooley Pond Tract today (2/20/22). Bye bye snow...sniff...

High Flats State Forest. What a difference a day makes. Minus 2 yesterday, booting up in the parking lot at Whiteface. Today (Feb. 7 2022) 33 degrees and mashed potatoes on the menu.

My careful analysis of these data (Reddit) indicates that the Boat will be receiving a pow refresh on Friday just before your arrival. It will all be skied off by the time you get there. Expect low tide. Rock skis recommended.

What a difference a day makes--all that pow from yesterday, sealed up under breakable crust. Ah Ice, my medium... @Harvey would want us to be optimistic--at least the woods are filling in!

Thin but fun in the NW-ADK Sat. Jan 8 2022. More Lake Effect would be appreciated and may be in the forecast. Think snow!!
