Going Under the Knife

@Peter Minde
How's it going? You home? Pain manageable?

Been home since about 4:15. I've got a fancy gizmo that passively flexes yer knee. I've got another gizmo, like a cooler, with a wrap around my knee. This is supposed to reduce swelling. I've got a shit ton of new prescriptions, including an opioid that I'm not thrilled about. But I may need it to get through physical therapy. Fortunately, I didn't get a large quantity of that stuff.

Thank goodness for the kindness of neighbors.

Opioids are prescribed for Post-op pain for a reason! Poorly managed pain can limit success! Surgical Pain is different than other types of pain...your nervous system does not know you are trying to help it with surgery it just responds as if you went through some gnarly trauma(swelling/muscle spasms/inhibited strength/immobility)! Short-term opioid prescription for immediate post-surgical pain is the gold-standard use of those medications.

Opioids prescribed for chronic pain is a whole different story and a recipe for disaster!

Use your resources to get through the first week

I saw monkeys running across the top of the walls in the hospital when I got shots of morphine in the buttocks. Took the post-op surgery pain totally away till it wore off and the monkeys were gone.
