Now this, is cool.

Whiteface Mountain is excited to continue our inaugural IFSA Freeride Ski and Snowboard Series. The Empire Freeride Series at Whiteface will feature both a Qualifier and a Junior event—highlighted by an exciting change to the Qualifier venue. For the first time ever, adult competitors will take on The Slides (conditions permitting), a well-known rite of passage for skiers across the nation, while Junior athletes will compete on Lookout Below. After welcoming nearly 100 participants in our first event last year, we’re thrilled to host even more riders this season.

Any reports from WF today or anyone that goes tomorrow for that matter? Committed to Gore for tomorrow but may head up for Sunday-Monday. Curious how the heavy snow with soft underneath set up with the freeze last couple days.

I tried to sign up but couldn’t find the 50+ bracket.

Yesterday was very good. Absolutely nobody on the hill. No lift lines, soft carveable snow, and not enough people to ski anything off. Just a fun day overall. Cloudspin was worth several repeats yesterday.

We had to get outta dodge last night. With a few new inches last night the mountain must be great today.

As to the MLK weekend overall it was all right. Even when the place is crowded it ain’t crowded. Maybe we waited 10 or 15 minutes once or twice? Conditions were the usual combination of a decent amount of soft snow over some ice that showed it face as it got skied off in the afternoon, as was to be expected.

The weekend Wilmington re-groom is pretty cool. Got first chair at 1:00 for that on Saturday. Wilmington doesn’t ski better than first tracks on soft untracked cord!

Thanks to Ron Kon for the hospitality.

Man, monday sounded good...we headed out monday morning for a leisurely ride home, sounds like we should have stayed!...

Agree with this assessment...overall great weekend with nice weather and plenty good conditions...in my case skiing with a 6 y/o makes it much less critical as well !

The winch cat parking was pretty sweet

Man, monday sounded good...we headed out monday morning for a leisurely ride home, sounds like we should have stayed!...
It’s ok Mike, my son chose unwisely, too, as he decided yesterday am to go back to the warmth of his bed. NGL, a little Incubus was playing at the bottom of the new LW chair yesterday noon time and these particular lyrics were so appropriate as I loaded the lift…

I haven't felt the way I feel today
In so long, it's hard for me to specify
I'm beginning to notice
How much this feels like a waking limb
Pins and needles, nice to know you

….sure, some fresh powder could have made it even better, but otherwise I haven’t felt that much joy ripping soft snow all over Whiteface in a long time. After a marginal Sunday, with few runs (I was teaching a newbie until 1:30) on very scratchy afternoon conditions, Monday was indeed like waking up and shaking off the pins and needles of Sunday.

It was good to see you Sunday at the Den!

Ha...hopefully you sent him some pics so he can think about his priorities! Incubus...nice...Those guys at LWF chair have been doing good on the tunes...I loaded to Deftones on Saturday which is right up my alley! Hopefully they keep up the good playlists...

Good too see you too man glad you got a good day in on Monday!
