Mount Peter Conditions

I casually looked into a seasonal rental this past fall for the Cats, but the owners were greedy in how much they wanted. You would really have to go every weekend and then a good number of weekdays to make it pencil out vs just booking weekend by weekend. Though there is definitely value in not having to schlep your stuff up and back every time.

He could do a program at Shawnee or Mt Peter, but I don't want to be tied to them for the whole winter is the problem. We'll see in a few years.

Ok, I forget the name of the place, but up the hill from the community center in pine hill is a collection of cabins that are air bnb'd for a handsome some. Some years ago I tracked down the caretaker (can't find his number), who put me in touch w the owner. It is not the best 5 star place, but a unit for a month was 2k but that also included president weeks and you can walk w your kid to the community center and a coffee shop. You kind of have to find a way to track down the care taker. Both he and the owner were cool. Being nice probably helped. It was a good deal bc an air bnb just over pres can be 1k easy. GOOD LUCK. PS - it does have a sweet hottub. It is probably downhill from one of the areas Rip skis into from the mountain.

My son's first turns were at Shawnee. 2.5 or 3.5 yo I have to check. 25 min and done!

One thing to keep in mind, many kids can't ski more than like 2-4 hours until they are 6/7/8 years old.
 
Yup!

He went about 4 hours on Mt Peter's 400 feet of vertical. At Belle he can maybe do 3. Our rental was 6 minutes away so I would drop him off and get an hour or two in myself.
 
Also 2k per month with a hot tub is a great deal, granted it sounds like that was 15 years ago?
 
The place in Pine Hill that Dom is talking about is called the Belleayre Lodge. It is a group of cabins that shares a hot tub, fire pit and game room. It is increasingly harder to book a stay there as families will get together and rent the whole place out.

I wouldn’t stress about the pizza. If your son is having fun then he’s doing it right.
