Belleayre Conditions

Are you saying this out of personal experience or my photo?
From experience.
Though not from trying to charge, but I was there last weekend, parked it must have been around 9:15 or 9:30 and I walked by the row of chargers and it looked pretty full, granted I wasn't looking to charge so there might have been a couple spaces open but I was surprised at how full it looked being still on the early side of the day.

Ok cool this jives 100%. At Gore (only 6 spots) if you don't get there by 8:30-8:45 you are unlikely to get a charger. I don't know how much volume there was, but I am not suprised by this. I would say on a holiday you should plan to park by 8:45 to get a charger and then not guaranteed. That said, the few times I have been to WF almost all the chargers are open. I think that is more a function of increased distance from the relatively more populated area where folks are buying EVs in higher numbers.

Yeah, though I don't own a EV, I keep an eye on things since I would like to buy one soon, but yeah if you ate coming up to Bell from NYC or the suburbs you can make it up to Belleayre, charge there and drive home without any other stops needed, I guess at Lake Placid you would have either already charged at your hotel or somewhere else along the way etc...

There is a sweet Rivian charger in Queensbury NY about 4 hours in next to a diner that I would use to WF or perhaps even Gore. I should be able to get to Gore without a charge but then would need to charge that night or in the morning at Gore. The Queensbury one is open to all EVs though it is not the Tesla standard.

For what it is worth regarding charging infrastructure, in 2024 I went from burbs to ALABAMA and back. I was worried about high speed chargers in Huntsville where I was but one opened the day before I got there. 0 issues going down and maybe charged at Rivian chargers 2/3 the time. Averaged about 300 miles per charge just because of aero and conserve mode (my car 270 epa rated). Probably averaged 65-70 (and most times couldn't even go faster due to high volume of tractor trailers).

If one goes with tesla, it is not even a thought. And now so many tesla chargers are open to all evs that it really is not a thought for anyone, other than managing apps to figure out where to charge. Rivian and probably other non teslas have decent point to point mapping software (though Rivian's is too conservative) that will give your route with charging stops.

Belleayre was great today, a bit crowded, but rarely waited much, especially for Hawk.

ROTD was Dot Nebel.

Took one run on Seneca, got blasted by snow guns, and yikes some of that fresh made snow was super grippy and not much fun.

17 runs and 17,554 of vert.

Exit 19? Are you talking the Ambrosia Diner just off the Northway going north? There are also a handful of chargers in the Aviation Mall parking lot... Target and Penneys end. Same Exit 19.

Crowded Monday? Aren’t schools still on?

Oh maybe I put the wrong number? It is the exit for route 28 off 87. Within a quarter mile there are Tesla chargers and an evolve ny/electrify America charger that actually works.
