I bought a set of the dusty army surplus skins off eBay ~$25 last season but haven’t used them yet on the epochs or annums
 
In my limited uphilling experience I have found that mismatched width (skin narrower than the ski) has not been a problem. I also lost a tail clip on one trip and haven’t replaced it and not had any issues- although I haven’t put in enough time to really wear out the glue yet. Since I started patrolling, I have realized how useful small plastic zip ties are so I carry them almost everywhere now. I think they will do a good job of holding skins in place when I run into the eventual glue issues that everyone talks about. What do the more experienced people think? Are my skin observations valid?
 
Used my new/used setup today. Karhu Catamount (85-70-80mm) and Rottefella Chili bindings. Really enjoyed the added
width and metal edges.

Not sure. I bought them used. My original CC setup delaminated after 30 years. Conditions were really surprising in Partridge Run at an elevation of 1800-2000 feet
