Titus Conditions

Titus is owned by a company (family really) that has several businesses.

They are able to keep, snowmakers, groomers etc, employed much of the year. That's got to help.

Titus is a cool story.

The main businesses are propane and convenience stores. They also own the Holiday Inn in town.

And they run a gravel pit. The gravel pit is key for employing snowmakers and groomers in the offseason.

12 years ago Titus was in trouble, going to be shut down. Bruce Monette 2 (the big boss) has been skiing at Titus since he was 3 and he didn't want to see it go down, so they bought it. He knew that skiers would bring business to convenience stores and the Holiday Inn. The Inn actually sells ski/stay packages and there are even reserved parking spots for those with packages.

After they bought Titus, they fitted the entire mountain with Maple lines, and they added a Maple syrup business, which also employs ski operations people.

One thing they did this year, the ski shop was run by another business, and the owner of that business was resisting coming in on slow weekdays.

Bruce 2: "This is a ski hill! You got to be able to buy a hat on Tuesday!"

So they took the ski shop inhouse and run it 7 days a week themselves, even if they don't sell anything. That is awesome in my book.

One last story, the day I was there we took a break for lunch. Bruce 3 was there, and also Jason, the assistant GM who skied with me. Bruce 2 comes in, I recognized him right away. I'd met him once, two years ago. He has a very distinctive look and a big personality. I wasn't expecting him to remember me.

Bruce 2 asks Bruce 3 how it was going. Bruce 3 says he spent the whole morning talking to customers who were trying to cancel rentals and tickets. It was snowing like crazy and only 200 skiers showed up (day before was 1200). The driving was certainly challenging.

So Bruce 2 says, joking, "who are these skiers who don't come to the mountain because it's snowing?! "

Then, looking me in the eye for the first time that day, he says: You don't see that kind of BS from Harvey Road! He came from Gore! How long did it take you to get here?

I was blown away that he even remembered me.

Cool story.

Titus is and has been totally unique for decades,It's the TRUE NORTH COUNTRY vibe.

BTW the North Country colloquialism is the collective of the 6 northern most counties along the border

People up here ARE the real deal.
What u see is what u get, no games, down home friendliness and straight forward

Its that vibe that's kept The Queen of The Hop and me here for 60 years . We came here directly out of college and planned to stay 2 yrs then move on .

It ain't fancy BUT it's Real
Glad u guys appreciate not only Titus but the NC Vibe

Well, I'm back in Malone, after a few weeks at Sunshine and Lake Louise. We had a great time, but there was more snow here. I got out yesterday, after things stiffened up and had been groomed. I stick to groomers these days. The upper mountain was great, the groomers were all very edgeable with no icy spots. There is good cover on all the trails. A few more inches this morning as well. Skiing is good here, they will be open next week, and if you look at the weather you can hear the corn horn blowing.....

Skiing is pretty good here right now. It snowed most of the day, 2-3 inches of fairly dense supportive snow. 2-4 coming tonight so tomorrow should be great, just wax your skis. They are going to open 6 and 1 tomorrow, and are taking Canadian $$ at par. I hope they can salvage some of that business that they have tried to cultivate....See you on the hill.

I hope our Canadian friends continue to ski Titus .I believe they are wise enough to know Trump has no mandate.Only 31%of Eligible Voters voted for him . Vive la Canada ,🇨🇦

Great day here, it really warmed up, and everything softened up. It's a bit sticky, but a few freeze/thaw cycles will fix that. Deep coverage everywhere, Check the weather and pick your day this week for a corn fest.

Made a trip up to Titus last Thursday. Only the lower mountain was open and the temperature was in the mid 30s. The groomed trails were soft and all skied great. I was able to get a ton of laps in since there weren’t any lines. I tried skiing some of the ungroomed terrain as well but it was very slow so I just decided to stay out of it.
