Good ole boys having fun.
That looks like a hoot. Reminds me of the snowplanes I saw out in West Yellowstone. It’s how they used to travel through the Park back in the day.

They started “flying” in the early 1930’s and with improvements eventually reached speeds of 140mph. They were all homemade.

That’s pretty wild!
The Russians had a ski plane version that they used in WW2.

Loved having a beautiful view of the snow in my front yard but the cold spell in my area is ending and the snow will be gone soon. Inspired by Ripitz’s artwork of backyard powder turns, I thought I’d have a little fun with the cross-country skis yesterday before it all melts away.

It would have been little challenge on my downhill skis but I'm relatively new to going heels-free so my front yard hill felt like at least a black diamond would on the downhill skis. The pitch of the hill gave me enough speed, and the solid objects at the bottom of the hill (i.e., house, retaining wall, trees, fence) provided me with more than enough incentive, to practice my turning as well as coming to a controlled stop (which was needed so I didn't hit my woodpile).

It also helped me with practicing my herringbone for the uphill.

As a bonus, 14 runs provided a nice quick workout (and I had a huge smile on my face the whole time)!

Rain took away the majority of the snow in my yard. I could have been disappointed as I looked at the little bit of snow left next to the driveway….

Instead, all I saw was the Run of The Day! I had a few fast runs down the white strip of death (and a lot of laughs)!

Neve on XC? in the backyard?
That's Zelda on snowshoes. In case you didn't see my message, you're invited. As you know the skiing is primo. Stop by after work.
