If you are located in WNY and love lapping terrain parks, Northampton Park (NHP) should be on your radar. It has the essentials covered: a small ski lodge with a cozy wood burning stove, single tow rope, and a bunch of park features.
This past Sunday NHP had their first event of 2025 - “ROC THE ROPE”. I hadn’t made it out yet this year, but was keeping my eyes on their community Instagram account and watching their season progress. The day before I saw pictures of the park build online, I was very impressed and excited to ride.
Knowing I couldn’t stay for the whole event, I showed up 2 hours early to get some additional laps in. As I walked out from the parking lot and approached the snow, I was greeted by the NHP community of riders. It was nice to catch up with some friends I haven't seen in awhile and hear of their different ski plans and trips.
The park setup was great, with options to take a new line with each run, and also featuring two jumps. Riding the rope can burn some energy, and after 3 quick laps I was already sweating. Catching my breath at the top I was smiling, it was fun to see more and more people showing up for the event and enjoy what the staff and NHP has built.
The Jam started with the top section of rails, judges stood next to the features scoring riders performance. One of the selected judges (Ben) had his trusty cat (Doug) tucked in his jacket to take in the action, not something you see everyday! I can confirm that Doug is one cool cat.
Moving to the jump section, this was my favorite to watch. It was nonstop action, people organized hitting the jump at the same time mixed with flips and spins. I was impressed with the size of the jump NHP was able to build. Their team has done well, building a great base of snow and park setup.
The vibes were high, but painfully for me I had to hit the road for other commitments. One thing is for sure, NHP is looking good, and making the most of an awesome 2025 season.
A special shoutout to: Cooper, Kyle, Ben, Ethan, Brayden, Nick, Caleb, Andrew, Sammie, and Sean on the snowcat! ROC THE ROPE was great.
Also special thanks to the sponsors for the event: Flour City Distribution, Neon Wave, NHP Parks Community, Full Send Ski & Outdoor, and Pastime Skate Shop.
Next up for NHP events is the Tell A Friend Tour, Thursday 2/27 4-8pm. Hangout and ski with the Line Skis crew, win some free gear, and eat some pizza!
Typical NHP hours are 4-8 Thursday and Friday, 10-8 Saturday and Sunday. Get out there!
