Holiday Mountain Conditions

Lift from Massanutten, re-engineered, rebuilt, blasted, galvanized, with new base terminal and voltage controls.
I wondered what happened to that lift. I started riding it back in 2004 since Massanutten became my home mountain once it was obvious my daughter liked skiing (started ski school at age 4). Glad it's found a new home.

I had a little extra time driving from the Poconos to Jiminy Peak today. Stopped by briefly on my way to Walkway Over The Hudson. Closed this morning but seeing the place in person reminded me of Montage and Bousquet. Finding ways to bring revenue in during the "green season" is the way to go. Something I'm used to at Massanutten.

Bonus was checking out the old cemetery.

Did a long drive yesterday with stops in both Binghamton and Cortland but I did get off 17 in Monticello for a couple hours at Holiday. The new quad is looking great. The new trail, Hackledam, is open and I would say it is legitimately steep enough to be a double black. Independence and Mombo Night should be open soon

I did take a couple pictures of course

It’s hard to really show how steep it is

They haven’t wasted any time getting their racing program back up and running. There were a bunch of colleges there this past weekend, both skiers and boarders

Overall, I’m still impressed by the progress they’re making. The improvements they’ve made to snowmaking and grooming are dramatic. The surfaces were all really nice.
