I had a great first-ever day at Woods Valley today. The snow's not 41" deep powder anymore but there is plenty of it. Everything was open, I skied the vast majority of it, and have no complaints about anything. Packed powder everywhere, plenty of powder in the woods. No wind to speak of and bright sunshine all day. I especially enjoyed the places like Bowl and The Sting with ungroomed packed powder that was so nice never having been through a thaw-freeze cycle. I wasn't as adventurous with the woods as I wanted to be, being on my own and not familiar with what was underneath. I made a few really fun runs through Deer Glade and Valkyries. There were a good number of people on the mountain, but I never waited more than a couple chairs. All the people there were great, and lunch was good and not expensive at all.
Woods Valley became my 71st ski area overall, 19th in New York, 17 of which still exist (closed: Eagle and Shu-Maker). Back to Royal tomorrow. Should be nice.
