Sugarbush Conditions

Good points. I would counter though that effective April 1 the only terrain off the Lincoln side that will be open for the remainder of the season will be off Super Bravo and to the left of the lift and Gate House. All of HG and Castlerock plus some Super Bravo terrain is closed for the season for the lift replacement. I get that they need to for the HG lift replacement but announcing it 4 days before while using spring tickets is a pretty bad look.

They could keep Ellen open to compensate but nah. This is the kind of stuff that makes me question Alterra's ownership. Not that Win didn't screw up either but not a great look.
I agree it is way too short notice.
Still, between Act 250 and Bicknell's Thrush, Alterra has a compressed time frame to get the HG removal and install done. The last storm probably effed up some timing. Mt Ellen had has issues with 3 of the 4 main lifts in recent weeks. Mar 31 cannot come soon enough for Mt Ellen so they can start dealing the those lifts.

So I was thinking sugarbush in 3 weeks. Does all this mean main face won’t be good? I don’t remember the names as I have only been once. I was assuming the more isolated area would already may be closed.

If it were you, would you just go to killington?

Heading from LI to Stowe and have an ikon. Souse can’t come so was going to ski a few hours w the kids.

I saw a sign at Mt Ellen lodge a few weeks back about how they were looking for companies and groups to rent out Mt. Ellen starting April 1st. I think the minimum was $7K and you get skiing from 10-2pm (That's what the sign said).

Not sure if they get any takers for that offer, but it seemed interesting. I don't remember seeing that in the past.

There will be more open at Killington.

At Sugarbush - everything to the lookers left of the Super Bravo HSQ will be open plus the Gate House HSQ and the North Lynx FG triple and those trails on the North Lynx area. The Heavens Gate at the top and the famed CastleRock double will be closed.

"For us to maintain the construction schedule and have the new quad ready for you next season, we must begin construction this Monday, April 1, which means this Sunday, March 31 will be the last day for the four-decades old Heaven’s Gate Triple. Yes, we know we just got a great shot of snow. And yes, we know the Totality is only 12 days away. But there are about a million moving parts when it comes to installing a new quad chair, and we need to ensure we have enough time to properly do the work so the new chair spins when the snow falls next season.

The closing and subsequent moving of heavy machinery, and transportation and construction of materials also requires us to close some other parts of the mountain to maintain the required safety perimeter. As such, we will be closing the Castlerock Double after this weekend along with all the terrain skier’s-left of Lower Organgrinder including Downspout, Domino, parts of Lower Jester and Heaven’s Gate Traverse, and Gondolier."

I don't disagree with the closing. More the 4 day notice. They said earlier in the season they would need to do the closures but it would be in "spring". A lot of people bought tickets on a promo they were running for April. Announcing it before they ran that would have been a lot more fair to those folks. I didn't buy one so doesn't affect me but am really glad I got out last weekend for Ellen, HG, and Castlerock

They claim its closing due to lack of Starr, but they'll rent it out for 7k. Absolute BS what they're doing. Bunch of fucking liars.

I saw some reports that their new quad broke down before getting a single skier to the top. Anybody there? Anybody got any more info or insights? Baseless speculation?
