Ski Bowl 3.0 at Gore

So basically what this does, is it gives the skier heading down either Peaceful Valley or Oak Ridge, the option of continuing down Peaceful Valley or turning left and heading over to Lower Moxham. It's a big benefit for later season warm conditions when the runout from the bottom of Peaceful valley to the top of the 13, the Village chair, was just another slog in the wheel of Gore's mantra of boasting the most horizontal in the East 🤷‍♂️ :unsure: :ROFLMAO:

Seeing the snowmaking infrastructure shows that this is a cog in the plan of attempting to run the Ski Bowl more full time with the significant investment being allocated here.
Time will tell...in many aspects...🥷

I've been involved in a few of those kinds of meetings from the government side. The point is to appear to listen to the public's concerns and to allow people to vent about decisions that they will have no real impact on. You need to be involved from the beginning of the process with a group that is organized enough to have some leverage. NYPIRG, Scenic Hudson and Protect the Adirondacks are groups that do that, but normal people aren't persistent enough to do what it takes to influence things, unless they can make it an actual paying job.

I don't know what to think about Ski Bowl. Maybe it will spread out crowds and make the whole Gore experience better. OTOH snowmaking has been much better the last few years but they don't seem to be able to cover a very large area at any one time. It seems like the skier cross course requires so much snowmaking that the rest of the mountain suffers, and trying to run Ski Bowl full time will just add to the problem, especially late in the season when the new trail will be most useful.

IT seems to me a critical part of the whole project is to make it easier for intermediate skiers to get to Ski Bowl, but none of them are gonna be happy with the return trip on Eagles Nest, which is often rock hard and too narrow for a lot of skiers.

I hope it works out, but I'm not feeling it.

With all the projected BS, can ya ask em in the Q&A if the shiny new sewer system will be ready before the shiny new lodge opens?

What could go wrong?

Totally agree. I’ve gotten involved in some local NJ issues and by the time the public can comment the decision has been made. And after the run around a few times you stop bothering, which is also part of the plan.
