Going Under the Knife

Ugh continued they did NOT do chemo today nor tomorrow things have worsened

The numbers are not good enough so the efficacy of chemo is questionable so one more lab draw could determine what's next

It might be a drug instead of chemo but the initial version of the drug MAY cause serious issues with heart ,but the latest version of the drug has a lower propensity of doing that......oh it can but %is lower .

Disappointed you bet but understand the efficacy of the treatment IS THE GOAL .Feel frustrated that this cancer is such chaos and a part of me say a quarter of a million and it ain't working, but everything as farev as treatment modality is dependent on the numbers

So lv a day earlier than planned and no real idea when I return all : "depends" on data from labs

Discouraged 😞 but still fighting to best of my ability and my faith sustains me
With you Warp! It's a tough hazard but you're gonna chip onto the green and save par 😁Keep up the good fight and it will turn in your favor 🙏

Keep on fightin' Dubya D! ♥️🙏

Thanks all,as you could tell I needed to get my sneakers pumped up and you guys are helping as are family and other friends

I had an absolutely beautiful drive back home from UVM .the leaves in the Champlain Islands were amazing and the views from the causeways of the High Peaks in the Dacks and the Green mtns was soothing to the soul . Driving is therapeutic for me and relaxes me

One strange phenomenon that occurred one of my Asst Dean's was at Hope Lodge run by the American Cancer Society and I'll be dammed he has had the exact same weird blood cancer as I do . He has had it for Seventeen Yrs . Amazing but he is in pretty tough shape now frail shrunken and so I tried pumping up his sneakers to take his mind of this shit

He was a former ski school instructor at Titus and a racer at Whiteface... Great skier and even better friend . I hired him and we worked very closely with me ,we made a great team .He had been a Mechanical Engineering prof and together we got several grants and ran some pretty innovative programs for working professionals

I certainly pray his battle with this disease turns around ,it hurts me to see this athleically and intellectually gifted guy suffer .

The eyes ARE the windows to the soul and I could see the depth of his anxiety I tried my damndest to lighten up our visits at breakfast, lunch and dinner at The Lodge

Was told last week by UVM my chemo is NOT working 😕

it's simply NOT bringing the critical numbers down fast enough ,they were going to convene the Cancer Board of Oncologists at UVM and consider alternative protocols some of which might cause serious damage to folks like me with heart issues.....it's pretty daunting so I didn't mention it Until I got the new plan

Well today they have determined a new to me protocol with 3 new to me drugs and one I had taken in previous chemo treatments

My son JB a medical professional and my local Oncologist said the new approach is time tested and makes sense .

It's chemo done 3 weeks a month then rest up the 4th week for next 2 months .2 drugs are infusions ,2 are shots I think

BUT the good news is they are working with My Oncologist here at our local cancer center and have been BUT now this new treatment can all be done HERE in Ogdensburg instead of UVM Thank God no winter travel to UVM except for consult there in January for a day to see how it's going .

My local doc will administer and monitor lab results weekly and confer with UVM

So 1-2 days a week for 3 weeks each month I'm really happy to not have to travel over there 3 time a month.

I will fight any of possible side effects which might be nasty but I'm determined to get this into remission if I can.

Thank God this has been transferred here 🙏. And thanks to all my family ,friends, neighbors ,former players all of whom have been there for the ole man
