Sorry for the dumb question but is that good (facilitates regrowth of trees) or not good?

I'm curious to see how many trees are left (due to the bark beetle infestation) since I was there in 2004. I suspect not many.

To take advantage of a Delta award flight, I schlepped 75 pounds of luggage (a ski bag, a boot bag, and a backpack) on a NJ Transit train, transferred at Penn Station to the E-train, then to the Air Train to JFK. Did it in 80 minutes. Quit yer bitchin!

Nice report! I enjoyed it for those same reasons including how it overlooks Scranton, what many might consider one of the most unexotic places in the U.S. As described in my mag article eight years ago, we made a fun weekend of it -- skiing Saturday at Montage, overnighting in Hilton hotel...

It appears that I never got around to commenting on this incredible guy, originally from the Finger Lakes. What a life lived, only to die that way on his home ski mountain of all places. Interesting how both he and Bob Peters landed in Jackson Hole under similar circumstances around the same...

I always wondered why it's Skaneateles and not Otisco Ski Club (with the Otisco Rod and Gun Club next door).

IIRC, April through September it's fine in CNY but yeah, the cold weather months are challenging. Amazing how much more sun there is down here in NJ, allegedly due to the ocean influence. I still remember gloomy Saturday after gloomy Saturday in front of the TV watching this:
