    Wild Harvest

Beautiful! What is the mushroom you ate and what is the red one? Is red one edible? Disclaimer: no one should eat based on what they see on a ski blog. When we did a csa share asparagus was a big one for our orgo farmer. Apparently they are one of the few things that can put pace weeds at...

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Camp we covered this - any environmental impact is caught up in the first 18,000 miles compared to an ice. Only blowing will be dust, snow, mud and sand. Unless you live in a dirty electric state like West Virginia. I ll give you another 6000 miles for my solar panels that pump...

I know we bogleheads hate leasing but these seems like maybe the right time and place as it is really a short term option on a car. I have never leased but my biggest change was city to burbs.

Also Harv if you lease for 2-3 years (which may be good option with lots of life change for you - you don’t quite know what you want) there will be a big world of evs say even that no frills small truck co backed by bezos.

They plan a mass version like a model y with suv for launch next year. I hear a used launch edition will sell for 55-60k. Could be a good deal. As camp has noted ev s have not tended to hold resale value like say a Honda (sold mine in 15 years later for 40 percent of purchase price). Happy...

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

I pull up to my garage and pull back some of the electric I send into the grid to fuel my vehicle. I drive a fair bit. 90 percent is still within range of a slow charger. Yes they need to figure that out for cities but they don’t need as many cars per capita in cities.

I think he views it as too much risk - he has to explain that to anaylysts/market and talent and board. I think you’re right.

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

Hey not a dumb question. I am guessing in one spot your plugged into a level 2 charger (j). The other chargepoint was probably a CCS which cranks out lots of juice and is really only for straight evs. Open your chargepoint app and filter level 2 vs 3. It sounds like you have a hybrid...

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

I don't think there is an original post. Jason, FRK, and SlowPoke know cuz we have a group chat going. I was skiing with Jason and on a random flat spot fell forward and heard a crack. That was January 13. Thank goodness Jason was there (not exactly there when it happened) he gave me some...

Haven't finished yet, but this could be a game changer: Walmart is launching its own charging network. To give you a sense of scale, Walmart has 5,000 locations. Tesla (the biggest now) has something like 3500 charging locations. 90% of Americans live within 10 miles of a Walmart or Sam's club.

ICE v Electric: Cost and Emissions

I thought this was cool. We need to go more bare bones for EVs. I don't know if this is the answer. And yes the extended range is still only 240 miles. https://www.nbcnews.com/business/rcna203014

Very deep and very true. I try to teach my kids to focus on process. If we focus on outcomes too much, it can unnecessarily increase challenge. At the same time, goals are important to motivate us, as you noted. And while some part of you may have felt in the moment like you failed, you...

Someone should call out your awesome decision not to try to continue the hike when you found out you were off course. You still got in such an epic, successful trip. So, I am calling out that one specific, very good decision. You totally beastmoded this. Thank you for the gift of sharing...
