I don't like the new ORDA April deadline for the "cheapest" rate. I do not want to pay for next season when this season is still in play. This seems to becoming the new industry standard. Monkey see - Monkey do. I get the scenario for a new pass holder but not renewals. I liked the August deadline.

For the ORDA passes - there is an April 30th deadline for the "cheapest" rate. This is different than the previous years first deadline that was in August.

IMHO...ORDA is trying to make the Lake Placid area (Whiteface, Mt VanHovenberg, the Bobsled and the jumping complex) a world class, competition, snow sports destination - "The NYS Winter Jewel". I have skied Gore, I like Gore, not knocking Gore...but after 25 years of not skiing at Gore then...

My son skied this weekend and over heard a Whiteface manager say they are blowing snow on Hoyts High or are getting ready to.....take that rumor for what its worth.

Downhill resort skiing is a complete luxury. As prices continue to rise, people will get pushed out. If the mega-corporations continue to consume and control .....and don't watch out they are going to kill the industry.
