    Backyard Sessions

Upstate Blower. Backyard version. No ice. Not too sticky. I followed the turn farmer. Not my work. Straight-line-day at the bump, as far as I could tell. The run-out didn't hold up well with the traffic. Pretty nice day, considering the dire predictions.

Awesome day. @Peter Minde thanks for coming out.

    Titus Conditions

Friday, you say? Montreal out there somewhere... Like @Mike said. It all skied pretty well. Then, today, Sunday, March 16 2025. From corn horn to closing bell? All in one long weekend. Saw @Mike from the chair and bellered at him! He was waiting at the bottom and we exchanged a good old...

    Titus Conditions

Conditions: Weds. Feb. 19, 2025; Good, considering no fresh. Still untracked to be found off Outer Outer. Chopped up pow to sides of trails and in some steep spots. Arctic cold air makes for nice sun and views. I think that is Owls Head back there... Liftie running bottom of Upper Mt. chair was...

    Wild Ice

Actually the ice made quite a bit of noise while I was on it. If I hadn't been such a chicken I could have got on it sooner and had more fun. As it was, I got maybe 3 miles of the ultimate dust on crust. I did wish for skates rather than skis more than once.

Where are you skiing this week?

Bolton. May 10, 2024. Getting close to my all time latest run (Snowbird, May 15, 1992). Several other "personal firsts" were also recorded. First time skiing with bug dope (wasn't needed) and first time skiing full "haole homeboy" or is that "honky homie"?, in jeans and a t-shirt.

    The bcXCD Thread

Had to try to find snow, having not skied since the eclipse, and then only on Slush Pond road by Paul Smiths. Objective, Wright Peak Slides. Hmmm. Nothing to ski here. That is Phelps Mt. in the background though. Stayed in the Kobalowski Leanto at the base of the slide, with abundant pine...

    Whiteface Conditions

We did Wilmington twice. Rocks floating in snow but nice to be open. Saw some peeps ski a (closed) lookout below. Nicest snow seemed to be off Freeway in areas protected by but not raced on by race runs (all icy).

    Northville Placid Trail 2024

From lake placid follow the averyville road past the trailhead for a couple miles past the official trailhead. Park in a gravel parking lot on the left. This cuts off several miles off the trail and is the old official trailhead so a map should be easy to find. Let me know if you can't find it...

    Free the Heel

I heard a rumor that the Cascade XC guys have been bringing tele gear to demo here (Pisgah) on Tues. afternoons. You wouldn't be completely limited to the ski hill. The woods still looked skiable (if you aren't nursing a bum knee, like me). There are also some short side trails to check out...

    Titus Conditions

Titus was a bit scratchy in the woods 2/20/24 and a bit thin in the natural dept in general. First time on upper mnt since April. We tried Outer Edge and wound up side-slipping a brown rock strewn ice face for 50 m, so we passed on Outer Outer. Lift line (Davids Delight?) was similar to @Mike...

    St. Lawrence University Snow Bowl

He's dead Jim. We worship at the church of pow. Now if only it was 1000 ft higher and 40% steeper... Straight-line day at the bump.

    Winter Weather 2023/24

Bolton claims 12 inches. But I think that is over several days. Snowed until 6 pm 2/16/24

    Alpine Touring Thread

Azure Mt. 2/8/24. Logs and rocks low. Dreamy above. 48 F at trailhead. Not going to last long....
