Who's on the DL?

Ugh
As someone who's suffered from back issues for over 20 years, I feel your pain. Sorry to hear this, Harv.
It's odd you only feel pain when you sneeze. I'd think that would help with a diagnosis?
I've always found a heating pad to help with back pain.

Harv, I'd look for a physical therapist. The good ones are miracle workers.

Meanwhile, yesterday I hit a patch of dirt. This time I only broke a pole and not my shoulder

I asked for one. They insisted that a cat scan was better?

They never showed me the scan. I'm calling Monday (again) to see if I can get a copy sent to another doc.
if the scan was read and documented, it should be posted in your MYCHART of your health provider. Most doc's have accesses to these too...

Unless you have had a trauma ie: fall or accident. Most back issues stem from poor physical core strength...Google Dr McGill's back exercises.

I read some of McGill's stuff when I worked as a personal trainer.

This is true but one thing you can do is make them a lot worse, which is why it’s good to know for sure what you’re dealing with

Which is why I went to the ER.

With 1500 feet of untracked in front of me, I probably skied too fast on today's first run.

Harv, remember to take it easy and enjoy the scene, the experience of skiing. Don't trade your longevity in this pastime for a statistic. (100 days) In the end you won't be saying "wow I should have gotten more days", you'll be thinking about the best days and what they meant.
Embrace the ambience of everything at the mountain. You ever stop for a minute and just listen to the silence in the glades at Gore during or after a huge snowstorm? Ski for that my guy.
Smiles per gallon...
