Gore Mid-week Lifts Question

I bought a discount card to Gore (and Whiteface) this year after discovering on this forum how much of a good bet it was. Considering my advanced stage in life, midweek rates are stupid cheap, and even Saturdays don't hurt, if conditions are good. I started the year with an IKON purchase, which easily takes care of about as good as it gets in Vermont, along with my trip to Taos, but this was cheap enough to broaden my horizons, so to speak.

Here's my concern. I have bitched more than once here about Gore's midweek operation policies, i.e., they dont have squat open a lot. I always tell people about the Tuesday it dumped a foot and a half, and half the mountain was closed. The patroller said, it's Tuesday, when I asked. Twice.

I ski midweek.

The last time I was there, it was a Monday, albeit maybe seven years ago, and only two lifts were running, the gondola and then that Summit Quad, whatever you call it, but, the latter didnt start up until noon. Conditions were fine for the date in January. Now, I checked the lift status and trail report from the day before, Sunday, and the whole place was open. Like, every lift. So, I drove up to Saratoga, hit 9 Maple and got a bed, and drove up in the morning. I was pissed. So much so I told a nice woman at the CS desk so, politely. I told her that Killington, where I could have gone, was probably pretty much fully open. Not every lift, but, every section of that place had a lift operating, and the trails were well maintained. Her response was, which I understand, (and is a doom loop), was, there arent many people skiing on Monday. Of course, if they dont run squat, nobody is coming, right? I said. Smiles all around. She did offer a refund. I didnt take it.

So, haven't been back since. It's a long drive to ski for me, so I want good conditions for my money. Killington hardly ever disappoints. Stratton was pretty damn good last year in that way, too, and it's actually a shortish drive for me.

Ok, after all that, what's the best midweek day at Gore lately as far as lifts? I'm guessing late week, Thur.-Fri..

Explain?

Late week traditionally will have more lifts than early week. Sometimes you get a different "extra" lift on Thursday vs Friday.

I found mid-week lifts to be better in the last few years, but it's not like Killington for sure.

I remember a day last spring, four lifts and maybe 400 skiers.

It's the Empire, er, cough cough, senior card. They don't tell you on the website. I can't find it, you wonder if it's intentional, cough cough, but the senior card, which is the same price as other ages (59), gets you $25 tickets at Gore midweek, and I think it's 35 weekend. Somebody posted the chart that must be buried somewhere on the site, but, I jumped at that. Cheap. I think it's the same at Whiteface. I can't imagine it's much more or less.

Yeah, I figured late week would be better, because Gore, at one point, did not include Friday in midweek pricing, basically proclaiming Friday the new Saturday, which, it kinda is, from what I've seen at most mountains, especially if it snows.

Gore does have it all over Killington for Saturday, so, there's that, too. Get there early enough, it can be good. Like, early.

As a wise man said:

Ya gotta go to know.

When am I a senior, señor?

Not in any hurry, but curious. :)

I am mostly a midweek skier as well since I work nightshift. Skied at least half a dozen times midweek last year. Mostly Thur/Fri but I am sure I had a Tues or Wed in there as well. Thur/Fri Burnt Ridge and Top Ridge were always open. High Peaks Quad and North Quad seemed to be the ones that were hit or miss. Can't say for sure on Straight Brook Quad. As of last year that was not really in my wheelhouse.
