Woods Valley Upgrades

If you know me I call home base Woods Valley in Westernville NY. The little mountain is only 15 minutes from work so I usually get up for night skiing and slow weekends. I swung by yesterday to pick up my pass and was able to tour the renovation. Since the mountain was repurchased by the Woods family a few years ago they have been pouring a bunch of money into upgrades. The last few years have been snow making and a magic carpet. This year and next its the lodge and patio. WV already has one of the best lodge "scenes" in my opinion. Last year they had 108 shows from local artists. They have regular beer tastings and a pretty good beer selection. The lodge upgrade this year has expanded their kitchen so I am excited to see what will be cookin'. Of course the pandemic puts a damper on going inside the lodge, but Wood's had foresight to add a take out window to their new sun deck. Overall I'm hyped, I usually get 30+ days/nights at woods so its a second home in the winter. If you should find yourself off the beaten path stop by Woods Valley. Classic old school vibe and some pretty great snow.

edit: looking at next weekend 12/12 for opening day

I definitely want to get there. Thanks for the update Roberto.

I hit Woods Valley a couple years ago. They got a foot of LES. The bottom pitch was fun, but the lift could've stopped there. The trail between the terminus and that last drop is flat as a pancake. Love the cornfield staring you in the face exiting the lift. The lodge is nice.

Skied Woods opener last year Dec 6th with 16" of untracked powder. I had not been there for years. It was a memorable Nordica El Capo kind of day. When lake effect sets up accross N. Oneida county Woods can get dumped on. Skied mostly on Timmy's run. Had it to myself for several runs. It was quiet and pretty. As mentioned, the top of the hill is pretty flat, but lower Timmy's has a good pitch. They do a nice job with snowmaking etc. Check the hours though. Last year I think weekdays were limited except for Fridays and maybe holiday hours. They have night skiing and weekends. The trail map shows several glades with some listed as double black but I've never skied any of them so no info there.

Yea they aren't usually open Monday and Tues and only open at 4 on Wednesday. They cut the valhalla and valkyrie glades a few years ago. They aren't super long but when its deep they have a decent pitch to enjoy it.

Woods Valley season passes are sold out for 20-21..
Here’s a FB "live" video from a month ago.
