Has anyone skied in CT?

Given the upcoming forecast and my growing penchant for smaller mountains, I'm giving some thought to an exploratory day trip. Any experience with Mohawk Mtn or any other CT ski areas? Mohawk looks to have some snowmaking and about 25 trails. Assuming decent coverage with 20 trails open, adding 6"+ of powder--how bad could it be?

Know a couple who live in CT so Mohawk is their home hill. They have a good time from what I understand. I skied bumps at Stowe with the husband who is a boarder. Small hills can be good fun in fresh snow with the right attitude based on my experience at ski areas with less than 100 acres.

The locals will be scared of fresh snow that deep so you might have the place to yourself. I'd be more worried folks on the roads who don't know how to deal with snow.

I have not skied CT. Ski Sundown gets positive reviews for expert runs and they seem to let Gunbarrel bump up.
I am hoping to try Mohawk in the next few weeks.

Mohawk is nice but there isn’t any real “expert” terrain. It seems to be really well run and they have a good uphill policy

If I was going to head to CT I’d go Ski Sundown. It’s further east, which is good for this storm. Current forecast there is 12 to 18 inches. Small place, but fun. If they are still partial to letting trails bump up like they used to all the better!

I will be at Mohawk for the first time after this storm, (and before the rain). Very liberal uphill policy, no ticket needed. I need exercise and experience in skinning. Only an hour drive.

Oh, btw, check the hours. They don't open until noon on Monday. No uphill outside of operating hours.

Saw in the Indy Passholders FB Group that Mohawk sold out by Friday evening for Sat, 30Jan. Sounds like that means that someone who shows up with Indy can't get a day ticket either. Mohawk isn't one of the Indy locations in the northeast that requires reservations.

How was it?
