Until they decide on a new name will it be like the Washington NFL team and be called "The Ski Area Near Lake Tahoe."?

I dunno. Think it's probably better to start over with a new name. It's not a partnership. It was a buy out although the headlines at the time called it a "merger." I went to both for the first time back in 2010. The two resorts had very different vibes.

I wonder what people who skied Alpine Meadows when it was independent would think of not having a separate name. My impression is that it's viewed more as a local's mountain. In the same way that Aspen Highlands is where local families ski while travelers taking a 1-week vacation think Snowmass is the only location with terrain for all ability levels.

If VR bought Smuggs and rebranded the entire resort "Stowe," how would that go over?

Your perception of Alpine is still correct I think. I’m just afraid mgt will take this as an opportunity to give them one name. If they do I hope they stick with Alpine Meadows
