Lodging Options near Plattekill

The stars seem to be aligning for me to make it to the Plattekill Work Day. Any suggestions for where to stay nearby on Friday night? I'm fine with a clean 2-star independent motel that's recommended. Exterior doors are a plus during a pandemic.

My default is the Best Western in Cooperstown. I've stayed there on the way to Lake Placid. My go to motel chain is Best Western these days. I also looked at the options in Oneonta.

The Roxbury Motel is full that night, Oct. 22.

I guess this thread goes here since it's related to a ski area. Will make a note of recommendations if I make it up north when there are slopes open.

Good idea for a thread. I get this question all the time and don't know how to answer it.

I have stayed at the Colonial Motel in Grand Gorge before. Very nice and doors that went to the outside https://www.colonialmotel.biz/

I woke up this morning thinking it would be a lot of work, but potentially useful if we had lodging directory that lived here:

But the more I think about it, the more I think it makes sense to add lodging option to the very bottom of each ski area listing:

It would go under the Ski Day Essentials section at the bottom of the page. Maybe we'd have line for price

Nearby Lodging $
Nearby Lodging $$
Nearby Lodging $$$

We could include a google maps link and phone number or...

Not totally sure, let's hear any ideas.

I'll probably break this out as a separate thread.

Ya should ask for a cut for yourself and/or a discount for the patrons if bookings came from here, just sayin.

Thanks! What I was hoping for was first-hand experience. Online reviews are too hard to interpret when there aren't too many recent ones.

I like the fact that Colonial has a deal with Plattekill in the in the winter for a lift ticket discount.

I've stayed here twice and it was OK but it's been years and reviews are mixed.

Margaretville Motel
I drove through Margaretville on one trip since I was headed in that direction. That was the time I stayed at a tiny motel across from Belleayre. Didn't have a reservation. Looked at the room before saying I'd take it. It was a really old time motel.

This time I'll be driving up I-88 so Grand Gorge is a more convenient location.

The only negative is there is not a whole lot of places to eat at in Grand Gorge
