Any improvements at the mountain for next year?

This summer at Gore:

• Re-grade of Lower Sunway, replaced the snowmaking pipes, adding tower guns.

• Widen and re-grade The Arena skiers left along with new towers from 2B down for World University Games slope style course.

• All new tower guns on Echo

• Cutting through from Upper Steilhang to Lower Steilhang. This creates one long run with snowmaking that is winchable.

I heard at one point Gore was replacing the Bear Cub Poma with a new one this summer. If anyone goes by the base area, see if there’s any action over there.

So, does that mean they are getting rid of that really fun, steep, at the top of Lower Steilhang?

There had been discussion about straighten LS, I fear the worst here. The winchcat thing.

Uggh, that was like the best trail at Gore. IMHO, it was some of the most interesting, technical skiing on the mountain. It's becoming all McMountain now.

So, if they are cutting through the trees on skiers left, the original entrance should remain intact. Dual entrance, Hawkeye style. That might not be so bad. The addition of consistent snowmaking would mean that we could ski it more than a couple of times a year! I guess the question is how the intersection lays out and if they are widening the original trail. Has anyone hiked up to check it out?

The unit management plan shows the addition as a straight cut but the original entrance remains. It looks like there is some widening as the two intersect, maybe at the top of the last drop?

With the increase in capacity of the HP chair they need more trail capacity on that side. Lower Steilhang hasn't been open often in recent years, but now it's just another groomer, Just one more reason the HP replacement is a disaster.
