Anyone else see this?

Just another reason to like simple, old, work-horse Hall lifts like at Platty. Fewer moving parts, a lot less to go wrong. I hope all who were injured a quick and full recovery.

I saw that. Junior and I had exactly that conversation this morning. The comments on the LiftBlog post (at least those that were there this morning) are way off in my opinion. It wasn’t operator error or wind. I don’t see how it could be anything other then a grip malfunction so it’s probably gonna turn out go be a maintenance failure

Don't know if I would get on that thing ever again..not that I've ever been there. its a risk..almost like an amusement park ride.

Lots of comments on this Lift Blog article. https://liftblog.com/2021/03/21/chair-falls-from-camelbacks-sullivan-express/#comments

From what's been posted, my understanding is that this is a situation where the entire lift malfunctioned, but the "unlucky chair" is the one that fell. At this point, it doesn't seem to be something that only affected the one chair and grip.

There was a previous "unlucky chair" incident at Granby Ranch in Colorado in December of 2016. The drive surged, causing the chairs to swing. The chair hit the tower, but stayed on the line. The three people in that chair however were not able to hold on and fell to the ground, killing one of them. I'm not saying that the Camelback incident was the same cause, just that it seems like the same outcome.

How is it the same outcome if the chair itself didn't fall in that other incident? The only thing that is the same is that people were injured.

Edit: I've read some more details and comments and there are reports of swinging /bouncing chairs in this incident as well. But still bo fallinf xhair in thst one.
