It would be cool if the uphillers could make some use of it. Seems doubtful though, considering their recent history.

Like Ascutney in Vermont and growing number of groups to clears glades I think this is the real future of skiing. Your next pair of skis should either be a hybrid alpine touring system or learn to tele.
I wonder at what point an eastern uphill area could justify some limited snowmaking to guarantee a product and remain successful?

I like the brewery/restaurant, e-bike friendly trail system, wedding/events venue combo model. Put snowmaking and some grooming on a dedicated uphill and one or two ski runs and there ya go, maybe.

Keep it simple with as little overhead as possible.

Only if someone is willing to haul a snowgun, compressor, and water without a snowmobile or cat. So ... I don't see that happening.

Yeah, cats are mucho dinero.

Still, have an older cat and a damn good machanic/operator as part of that equation and maybe, just maybe…..

I think a good brewery can be extremely profitable 🤷‍♂️

Sad to see but totally understandable given the scenario 😞
Yup. Sad announcement.
Great funky ski area.
Skied Black in the 1990s. Just across the valley you could see the trails of the already closed Tyrol. I remember wondering how long a south facing area like Black would remain open. I am amazed it lasted another 30.
