Nice ride if slow. However the seating arrangement struck me as odd. With 4 people each would have a handle and foot bar between their legs. Not sure if this common elsewhere. I've taken enough shoulder hits from an unexpected bar drop but a crotch shot...

My guess is it is some type of safety issue

Yes. They started installing those things when a kid or two slid under the safety bar a few years ago.

I also noticed today how tight the new lift 7. I'm a rule follower and slightly afraid of heights so I tend to be a bar down guy even when riding alone but with how wedged in I was I was seriously considering riding it bar up. It is going to suck riding that thing with 3 other people. I also really don't jive with the foot rests as a snowboarder, they sit too high and are too small to provide a decent place to rest an edge or binding heal loop.

Did you happen to notice how low the RFID scans at the gate were? I rock my pass in a sleeve pocket just above my glove and had to bend down a good bit to scan but thats enough complaining for me for today, I was just happy to finally be back on snow.

That design has become standard for new lifts.

Alta has safety bars with no footrests but a bar that goes between legs. Pretty sure the safety bars were added after 2008, when I first took my daughter on a spring break trip. The main purpose of safety bars was to help keep kids from sliding off. Fair to say that many locals don't put the bar down at all.

My card is in the same place. No problems but I'm short and would swing my arm down a bit. Did not work in my back pocket on a warm day when I was not wearing a jacket.

Additional note had to hike out of the lift 7 area. Either over to the lower mountain trail or up the ridge. I chose the ridge. Obviously this is temporary.
