Belleayre Ski Center Map 1969

“The Catskills escaped the heavy snow that buried much of New England early this week, but received sufficient fall to maintain “generally excellent” conditions at Belleayre Mountain ski center. Superintendent Nelson Sears said that Belleayre had received between four and five inches of new snow overnight Tuesday and that it was snowing heavily when he reported Wednesday morning.

Mr. Sears also reported a “comfortable-size” crowd at the slope for mid-week skiing Wednesday. This has been the third week in a row that crowds have been good during the middle of the week and the last three weekends have each seen Belleayre filled nearly to capacity. Sunshine Saturday, coupled with the Washington’s birthday weekend, drew large crowds to all of the area ski centers. Warm temperatures and heavy crowds threatened to wear out the slopes, but the new snow has restored them. Ski operators are looking for good crowds well into March if present snow conditions are any indication.”
