Bolton Valley

Bolton Valley logoBolton Valley is a multi-faceted ski area in the town of Bolton, just 30 minutes from Burlington, the largest city in Vermont. From Bolton’s west-facing slopes, you can watch the lights come on in town as the sun sets behind Lake Champlain and the Adirondacks.

The Bolton Valley trail map highlights 2 quad lifts, 3 doubles, and one surface lift that service 1700 vertical feet and 400 acres of skiable terrain. Twelve of their 71 trails are open for night skiing – making it the most extensive night skiing option in the state. Bolton averages over 300 inches of snow per year and has the highest base elevation in Vermont.

Bolton Valley is known for its access to wilderness terrain. The resort offers backcountry equipment rentals, in-house guiding and instruction, backcountry safety courses and Intro-to-Backcountry clinics. For anyone explore outside of ski area boundaries, Bolton is a great place to start. And there are thousands of acres of terrain for experienced backcountry skiers and riders as well – including the renowned Bolton Trapp Trail that runs through 8 miles of wilderness from the resort to the Trapp Family Lodge in Stowe.

Bolton Valley offers several different options from their ski and ride school with extensive after-school programs, weekend kids’ programs, and group and private lessons for the whole family. An updated and remodeled hotel offers slopeside lodging, multiple dining options, and occasional live music après-ski in their classic slope-side James Moore Tavern.

In 2009, Bolton Valley installed a wind turbine at the top of the Vista Quad, which has become part of the brand. It is estimated to produce 300,000 kilowatt hours of electricity.

The independent family-owned mountain is an Indy Pass ski area.
