Interview with Skiology Matt

Northeast SkiologyA year ago, the eastern ski community didn’t really know Matthew Bramble — aka Skiology Matt. Then, in October of 2018, he launched a Facebook group called Northeast Winter Weather and Ski Conditions. NWWSC is different than other weather sources. Beyond weather forecasts, Matthew synthesizes weather information to predict ski conditions.

The group serves many northeast skiers and riders, with information they can easily use to make decisions. The group quickly gained popularity, gaining more than 3000 fans, organically, over the course of one season. We asked Matthew about his motivations and plans for the future.

Interview: Killington’s Mike Solimano

Killington is important to New York skiers. It’s accessible, it’s huge, it gets a lot of snow and it’s seems like it’s almost always open. The mountain’s all-in return to the extended season and their total commitment to skiing deserves respect.

But for us, it goes beyond that. Somehow The Beast — from the top of the heap — projects an openness and a focus on the customer that is inspiring.

No one represents this customer first approach more than Killington’s top gun Mike Solimano. Visible and approachable, in many ways he’s become the face of Big K. Our interview with Mike follows.

Interview with Scott Brandi of I SKI NY

NYSkiBlog has long advocated for a public and private partnership to invest in the infrastructure New York skiing will need to stay competitive now and in the future. This summer the players came together with a significant package for financing snowmaking efficiency improvements across the state. Scott Brandi — the President of I SKI NY — was a driving force on the project and we asked him for details.
